FRIDAY

 Today - for good or bad, we are performing. Hopefully the script has been corrected and updated or there might be some poor grades. Note, ALL LATE WORK IS DUE BY NEXT FRIDAY at 4 pm.

Thursday

 Today we need to do a practice run through of the script.  Of course, Atticus and Mayella aren't finish as people forgot to do homework, but we will run through what is done first.

Monday - Court

   Today we are going to start projects for this Unit. What you will need to do 1) Choose a character from the below list (only one student per character) 2) Write a background profile of the character. Who the character is, what the character does for a living, how the character acts. 3) Explain an allusion/symbol connected with the character and its meaning 4) Go back through the courtroom chapters and create a script of the characters testimony and or questioning. Make sure you don't skip anything. If you envision these as monologues make sure the character responds to questions asked of him or her. 5) Connect character to a theme 6) Practice presentations Note - Scripts are worth 50 points (5 pts for 1-3, 25 pts for 4 and 10 pts for 5) Presentations are worth 25 points Characters: Mayella Ewell Tom Robinson Bob Ewell Heck Tate and Mr. Gilmer Atticus Finch

Friday

 Today you have a vocabulary quiz. Once you are finished with this quiz, please use the time to catch up on either reading or your blogs. Good luck!

 Spend a few minutes working on the words of the day and then we need to discuss book 21 and read 4/16 chapter 22-23

Thursday

 Today we need to read chapters 20 and 21, but first take a couple of minutes to work on the words of the day and then we will discuss chapter 19.

Today we need to read chapter 19, but before we do I'd like to review Unit Goals and Objectives in relation to this section on the courtroom case. Unit Learning goal: Students will demonstrate an understand of one the main concept of the novel by producing  a final project (PowerPoint, Film, Presentation) that incorporates a 1-page essay that explains  how a main concept works in the novel and using specific examples to backs up the students ideas. Main Concepts: Does the American law guarantee justice for all? How does personal experience contribute to prejudice? How can a person combat prejudice? How do our preconceptions influence our sense of justice?  I'm going to give you a few minutes to work on sentences for words of the day. Please post these as you never know when I might check them and give credit for them.
