Friday - ACT 3

 Today we are going to take notes on Soliloquy, Monologue, and Oxymoron. We are also going to write sentences with the next two vocabulary words, and finally we will finish Act 3. HOMEWORK: Write headlines for each scene in Act 3. 

Wednesday - ACT 3

Today, we are going to read Act 3 Scene 1 and then watch it. First, write sentences with the first two words. Homework is to write the wedding vows for Romeo and Juliet. There should be three vows for each partner. Tuesday

  Students need to take a Romeo and Juliet quiz on Act 2. Once they are finished with this quiz they should look up vocabulary and read Act 3 Scene 1. Students should write a detailed summary of the scene on their blogs.

Monday - FUN DAY!

 Today, I will give you 10-15 minutes to work on Queen of Mab drawings. Then we will finish Act 2. You will have a quiz on Act 2 tomorrow. You also have a blog journal on the feud. You will need to write a news report interviewing three citizens of Verona about the feud. See handout. This should be put on your blog.  Today we are going to read Act 2 scenes 3-5. Remember to study for tomorrow's quiz.

Wednesday

 Today we are going to write sentences with the next two vocabulary words. We are then going finish reading and discussing Act 2 Scene 2 and finally we will discuss the Queen of Mab assignment. QUEEN OF MAB drawing.   Paper will be on the back table.   There will also be color pencils and crayons.   These drawings will be due on Monday 1)    On a sheet of paper draw the images from Mercutio’s QUEEN OF MAB speech.  I want you to look closer at who the QUEEN OF MAB is and what she looks like and then I want you to look at the various dreams she brings different people.  Draw a picture of Queen Mab bringing a sleeping person a dream.  Next, print the lines from the poem that you are representing in your dream below your picture. 2)    Grade: 15 points for the depiction of Queen of Mab, her coach and her coachman. 10 points for the depiction of a sleeping person and the dream the Queen of Mab brings. 5 points for the text...

Quiz over Act 1. When you have finished your quiz please write sentences with the remaining vocabulary words. Remember you have a vocabulary quiz on Friday.  Begin Act 2. Tomorrow we will return to the Queen of Mab.   

Monday

 Today, we are going to play Jeopardy review and then begin Act 2. Homework: Blog entry handout. Tomorrow - Quiz. Things to know for tomorrow's quiz: 1) Five elements of Tragedy. 2) Five elements of Tragic Hero. 3) Dramatic Foils. 4) Be able to summarize each scene and discuss who belongs to what family. 5) Know the following characters: Sampson, Gregory, Benvolio, Tybalt, Romeo, Juliet, Nurse, Paris, Lord and Lady Capulet, Lord and Lady Montague, Prince.

 Today we are going to take notes on the four elements of a sonnet and three types of metaphors. Then we will look again at the Prologue of the play and finally, finish Act 1.  Today we are going to write sentences with Rosemary and Sallow, and then we will continue with Act 1 of Romeo and Juliet. For Homework you will need to write Headline summaries for each scene in Act 1.  Tomorrow we will return to the prologue.
